 Corporate Commitment
"Going Green" is no easy task, nor is it a final destination. Rather, it is a commitment to taking a new path, a green path
and the path less traveled. At Home Run Software Services, we
are committed to being on that path where we can do our small
part to contribute to the Green Movement that is sweeping our
country and the world.
Recently, we announced our ground-breaking Go-Green Campaign for
CDs & DVDs. That campaign was kicked off with four initiatives:
natural fiber-based, bio-degradable alternatives to traditional plastic CD & DVD packaging
ultra-thin flexi-disc CDs that use 50% less polycarbonate than traditional CDs and DVDs
USB devices that are 100% RoHS compliant with options including bamboo casing
a recycling center offering free CD & DVD reclamation to residents and fee-based
reclamation services for businesses with surplus and obsolete disc-based product inventory.
Beyond the initiatives of our Go-Green Campaign, we have continued
our walk down the Green Path by adopting our business practices as follows:
Procedures
Thorough re-examination of our internal processes, we reduced workflow paperwork by 44%.
By sending invoices to clients electronically, we completely eliminated invoice paper
and envelopes and simultaneously achieved cost savings from postage and labor.
We encourage our clients to submit payments via ACH to avoid paper checks and mailing.
We encourage our vendors to submit invoices electronically and we are paying more of
those invoices electronically than ever before.
We have replaced hard copy reference materials used internally with electronic data
repositories accessible by all employees from anywhere on the internet.
Facilities
Air conditioning usage has been cut by simply opening the front door for better ventilation.
Careful monitoring of air conditioning along with other conservation measures
allowed Home Run to reduce peak electricity bills by as much as 43%.
Production hours were moved by two hours to reduce electricity usage.
Separation of our used cardboard allows us to recycle cardboard.
Development of a recycling program for scrap and surplus CDs, DVDs and related packaging materials.
Diversion of old but working equipment to various charities and schools serves
to extend the useful life of those assets, thereby delaying their disposal.
Use of e-Waste recycling programs to avoid electronic products from going to landfills.
Supplies
Use of bathroom tissue made from recycled paper materials with no chlorine bleaching.
Use of paper towels made from 100% recycled materials.
Use of trash bags that are made from 50% recycled materials.
These are just a few of the ways we've been able to move down the Green Path.
We recognize that Going Green is a continuous journey and we will continue to
search for ever better ways to Go-Green.
